20 Special Coffee Recipes (Both Non-Alcoholic and Alcoholic)

1. Coffee with honey

You can use this as a middle of the afternoon tonic pick me up or even as a light dessert. Don’t be scared to add and remove any of the spices and flavorings. This will make enough for 3 to 4 cups of coffee.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups of freshly brewed hot coffee.
  • ½ cup milk.
  • 4 tbsp honey.
  • 1/8 tsp vanilla extract.
  • 1/8 tsp cinnamon.
  • Pinch of nutmeg.

Method:

Put all of the ingredients into a small saucepan and warm over a low heat on the hob. Make sure that you don’t boil them. Stir the mixture well making sure that the honey dissolves. Serve while hot in suitable sized cups.

2. Spicy Turkish coffee

This Turkish coffee has a blend of spices which will make it a very heart warming drink.

Ingredients:

  • 6 ounces cold water.
  • 1 whole cardamom pod.
  • 1 whole clove.
  • 1/2 stick cinnamon.
  • 1 drop vanilla extract.
  • 2 tsp sugar.
  • 2 tsp finely ground coffee.

Method:

You need an ibrik or a small saucepan to make this coffee. Add the water, spices and vanilla extract to the ibrik and then stir well to combine them. Next add the sugar and the coffee grounds. Without stirring place the ibrik on the stove top on a medium heat. Watch for the foam to start to rise up the sides of the ibrik.

At this point, remove it from the heat. Don’t allow the coffee to boil at any point.  Let the foam settle back down again and repeat heating it and foaming several times until the foam is nice and thick. Spoon the foam into a coffee cup and then allow the grounds and spices to settle to the bottom of the ibrik for about a minute. Pour the coffee into the cup with the foam making sure that the sediments remain in the ibrik. Serve the coffee straight away.

3. Arabian style coffee

This is a mildly spiced coffee made on the stove top.

Ingredients:

  • 500ml water.
  • 3 tbsp freshly ground coffee.
  • 3 tbsp sugar.
  • ¼ tsp cinnamon.
  • ¼ tsp cardamom.
  • 1 tsp vanilla.

Method:

Put all of the above ingredients into a saucepan and heat it until foam starts to form on the top of the coffee. Allow the sediments to settle and then serve by decanting the clear liquids off the sediments lying on the bottom of the pan.

4. Chocolate and clove coffee

This coffee is sweet and spicy tasting at the same time. It is a stove top coffee made in a saucepan without any filtering.

Ingredients:

  • 8 cups water.
  • 4 oz freshly ground coffee.
  • 4 oz Demerara sugar.
  • 2 cinnamon sticks.
  • 3 whole cloves.
  • 1 square of chocolate.

Method:

Put the water into a suitable sized saucepan and bring it to the boil. Add the cinnamon, cloves, sugar and chocolate and bring to the boil once again. Skim off any foam and then reduce the heat so that mixture is simmering. Add the coffee and allow it to brew for 5 minutes. Serve while still hot.

5. Caramel and chocolate cappuccino

Ingredients:

  • 2 shots espresso coffee.
  • 1 shot chocolate syrup.
  • 1 shot caramel syrup.

Method:

Mix together the coffee and syrups in a large cup and then fill with steamed milk from the espresso machine. Add some foamed milk to the top. This is a very sweet drink that can become very addictive in weaker moments!

6. Alcohol free Irish coffee

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup freshly brewed coffee.
  • 1 tbsp Irish Cream coffee flavor syrup.
  • Whipped cream.

Method:

Make the coffee in your preferred way and then put in the Irish Cream flavoring. Place whipped cream on the top and drink the coffee through the cream.

7. Spicy butter coffee

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups freshly brewed coffee.
  • ½ cup heavy cream.
  • 1 cup brown sugar.
  • 2 tbsp softened butter.
  • ¼ tsp ground cloves.
  • ¼ tsp ground nutmeg and ¼ tsp ground cinnamon.

Method:

Combine the butter, sugar, cloves, nutmeg and cinnamon together well in a small mixing bowl. Brew the coffee in the way that you like and then mix it together with the spices in the mixing bowl and the heavy cream. Pour the prepared coffee drink into 6 cups and serve to your guests.

8. Cherry and chocolate Coffee

Ingredients:

  • 4 cups freshly brewed coffee.
  • ½ cup chocolate syrup.
  • ¼ cup maraschino cherry juice.
  • Whipped cream.
  • Chocolate syrup for drizzling.
  • Maraschino cherries.

Method:

Mix the coffee, chocolate syrup and cherry juice together in a small mixing bowl. Make sure they are combined together well. Divide the drink up between 6 mugs and top each with whipped cream and a cherry. Finally drizzle chocolate syrup onto the top of each one.

9. Creamy almond liqueur coffee

Ingredients:

  • ¾ cup hot coffee.
  • ¼ cup heavy cream, scalded.
  • 1 shot of Amaretto.

Method:

You have to scald the heavy cream first of all. To do this heat it up until it is just before boiling. At this point small bubbles will start to come up the sides but there won’t be a rolling boil. Do the heating slowly so that you don’t burn the cream. Combine the scalded cream with the coffee and Amaretto and serve. This is perfect for people who like rich and creamy drinks

10. Flaming Galliano coffee

Ingredients:

  • Galliano.
  • Sugar.
  • Lime juice.
  • Hot coffee.

Method:

Coat the rim and inside of a glass with sugar and lime juice. Put the Galliano into the glass until it is half full. Light the Galliano and then rotate the glass so that the sugar melts and turns to caramel. Finally fill the glass with the hot coffee.

11. Caribbean coffee

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup hot coffee.
  • 1 tbsp molasses.
  • 1 tbsp dark rum.
  • Whipped cream.

Method:

Put the coffee and molasses into a small saucepan and put on a low heat. Heat the mixture until the molasses dissolve. Put the rum into a cup and then pour the coffee over it. Top the lot off with plenty of whipped cream. The molasses and rum give this drink a strong and fantastic flavor

12. Choco-nut coffee

Ingredients:

  • 10 oz hot brewed coffee.
  • 1 shot chocolate liqueur.
  • 1 shot hazelnut liqueur.
  • Cocoa Powder.

Method:

Warm a 12 ounce wine glass and then add the hot coffee. Mix in the liqueurs and then sprinkle the cocoa powder on the top before serving. This is a stylish coffee which is great for relaxing with company.

13. Kahlua coffee

Ingredients:

  • 3/4 cup hot coffee.
  • 1/8 cup Kahlua.
  • 1/8 cup brandy.
  • Whipped cream.
  • Ground Cinnamon.

Method:

Mix together the coffee, Kahlua and brandy and then pour into a mug. Top it all off with whipped cram and then sprinkle on some ground cinnamon. This is a very warming drink for sharing with friends after dinner.

14. Pirate coffee

Ingredients:

  • 8 cups hot coffee.
  • 1 cup dark rum.
  • 3/4 cup sugar.
  • 2 cinnamon sticks.
  • 12 cloves, whole.

Method:

This coffee is to share with all the shipmates. Put all the ingredients into a large saucepan and then simmer on a low heat for a couple of hours to build up the flavor of the spices in the coffee. The taste of pirate gold and rum from the Caribbean.

15. Canadian maple coffee

Ingredients:

  • 1 oz light cream.
  • 1 oz Canadian maple syrup.
  • 2 oz dark rum.
  • 6 oz freshly brewed coffee.

Method:

The rum gives this maple syrup classic a bit of a kick. Brew the coffee and then add it together with the maple syrup, rum and cream into a mug.

16. Irish coffee

Ingredients:

  • A cup freshly brewed coffee.
  • 1 1/2 ounces Irish whiskey.
  • 1 tbsp sugar.
  • Whipped cream.

Method:

Mix the coffee with the Irish whiskey and sugar in a large mug and then add the whipped cream to the top.

17. Espresso Martini

Ingredients:

  • 2 oz Irish Cream liqueur.
  • 1 ½ oz freshly pulled espresso.
  • 1 oz vanilla vodka.
  • 1/2 oz Amaretto.
  • Chocolate syrup.

Method:

Put all of the ingredients except the chocolate syrup into a cocktail shaker and then add a lot of ice. Shake the mixture well for about a minute and then pour into martini glasses. Gently pour a little of the chocolate syrup on the top as a garnish. Serve straight away.

18. Spanish Coffee

Ingredients:

  • 1 lemon wedge.
  • 1/8 cup granulated sugar.
  • 1 oz Cointreau liqueur.
  • 3/4 oz brandy.  
  • 4 oz freshly brewed coffee.
  • 1/2 oz Tia Maria.
  • Whipped cream.

Method:

Moisten the rim of a suitable wine glass with the lemon wedge and then dip the rim into the granulated sugar. Warm the Cointreau a little and then pour into the glass. Light the Cointreau and allow it to caramelize. Add the brandy, coffee and Tia Maria. Add whipped cream to the top and then serve.

19. Mexican Coffee

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup freshly brewed coffee.
  • ¾ shot Kahlua.
  • ¾ shot Tequila.
  • Whipped Cream.
  • Maraschino cherry.

Method:

Put the liqueurs into a mug or a large cup and then pour the coffee over them. Put whipped cream on the top and finish off with a cherry.

20. Germanic Coffee

Ingredients:

  • ½ oz peppermint schnapps.
  • ½ oz Kahlua coffee liqueur.
  • 5 oz hot black coffee.
  • 1 ½ oz whipped cream.
  • 1 tsp sugar.
  • Grated chocolate.

Method:

Put the coffee, schnapps and liqueurs into a large coffee cup. Sweeten with sugar until it is to your liking. Float the whipped cram on the top of the coffee and then garnish with the grated chocolate
